Where Is The Best Place To View The Leonid Meteor Shower Near Orange County, Ca?

I live in North Orange County, and I’m not sure where the best place for viewing is. I want to go someplace local (up to 30 minutes away). Any suggestions?

Paris Hilton says:

Scheesch, The Orange County Astronomy Club is the largest in the world….Call them they will probably have an outing of some sort……They will probably head southeast toward the mountains and the Palomar Observatory and away from the lights. Early next Wednesday morning will probably be the best time…Take a reclining lawn chair or you will get a sore neck. You know where Leo is right ???? (It’s ummm, under the Big Dipper)……

“West” is correct. There is too much light pollution in Orange County to get a good look at this phenomenon. You would have to travel far into the desert where the night time sky is nearly totally dark. Perhaps somewhere near Camp Pendleton may give you a reasonable view.

West of Encino says:

get as far away from the city lights as you can..the only area i can think of is the deserts.
